La Speranza

Among Friends

For the opening concert of our fifth season, La Speranza honors the importance of friendship with a program of string quartets that were written for and performed among friends. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s celebrated String Quartet in F Major, K 590 is featured, along with his friend and colleague Johann Baptist Vanhal’s joyful E flat major quartet. The imaginative String Quartet no. 3 in B flat major by Antonio Bruni, one of Mozart’s severely underrated Italian contemporaries, rounds out La Speranza’s first live ticketed performance since February 2020.

Maria Lin and Kana Kimura, violins
Yvonne Smith, viola
Fran Koiner, cello

La Speranza commemorates its fifth year and its return to live performances in the 2021-2022 season with the aptly named series called “Nurture and Replenishment”. This concert series celebrates the ways in which we are comforted and restored through the historically informed performance of chamber music from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras. Each program will also be live-streamed (at the same price) for those who cannot attend in person. Tickets are $25/regular, $15/students and seniors.
