Classes
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a professional musician is helping others discover their own musical voice. Please read on to learn about the different opportunities Ms. Smith offers. With each student she places a strong emphasis on building a solid technical foundation through scales, etudes, and note reading, and she works together to develop their unique sound and musical voice. Because no two students are exactly alike, she tailors her curriculum to best serve what works for each student and their learning style.

Private Lessons
Ms. Smith teaches private viola lessons from her home in Houston Heights area and through Tallowood Academy of Fine Arts in the Memorial area. In-person lessons are preferred, but requests for Zoom lessons will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Group Classes
Ms. Smith is available to teach group classes to the viola sections of your middle and high school orchestras. Topics include scales/technique, region etudes, all state excerpts, and sectionals that cover the music your ensemble is working on.

Master Classes
Are a lot of your viola students currently working on music by Bach or other Baroque or Classical era composers? Ms. Smith offers a master class for violists on playing in the Baroque and Classical style. Period instruments not required!
